"As with all foodstuffs, the production of chocolate is subject to high hygiene requirements," reports Nadeshda Gudi, our Environmental and Energy Management Officer. "In order to comply with these, disposable products such as gloves, film, hairnets etc. are often used in production. As they come into contact with chocolate, we have to dispose of them afterwards as mixed waste. But we want to move away from single-use. How can we become more sustainable here?" This question is firmly anchored in our sustainability strategy.
In collaboration with InCamS@BI - Innovation Campus for Sustainable Solutions and the ITES - Institute for Technical Energy Systems at Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences, we want to tackle the issue of "reusable instead of disposable" with new solutions and initiate effective changes.
